Food + Mood NYC: You are a certified health coach helping female entrepreneurs live a healthy and fulfilling life. Can you tell us what inspired you to embark on this journey?

Lindsey Kaszuba: My journey into health coaching was born from personal experience. For a big part of my life, I was overly obsessed with my health and all-consumed by what I thought I “should” be doing. I allowed my health, and really, my worth, to be dictated by the number on the scale. That was until I realized that despite all the restriction and deprivation I still didn’t feel great in my body. I knew there had to be a simpler way to “be healthy” and so I sought to find it.

I learned to let go of these restrictions and tune into my body’s innate wisdom and THAT truly transformed my life. This profound shift inspired me to launch a business focused on helping other women, particularly busy entrepreneurs and working moms, simplify their approach to wellness so it makes sense for their busy lives. Voila, Lindsey Kaszuba Health was born. My mission is to show women that when you put your health first, the rest of your life follows suit and it is absolutely achievable without sacrificing the rest of your life.

F+M NYC: What specific areas are your clients keen to work on and to learn more about? Is there an area of holistic health that you focus on?

LK: My clients often come to me seeking ways to manage stress, boost energy levels, lose weight, and create sustainable healthy habits that fit into their busy lifestyles. Many are looking to break free from restrictive diets and find a more intuitive approach to eating. I focus on a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the interconnectedness of nutrition, movement, mindset, and lifestyle habits. My S.I.M.P.L.E framework guides clients to create realistic, sustainable changes that align with their unique needs and goals. We work on developing a positive relationship with food, incorporating fun and joyful movement, managing stress through mindfulness practices, and cultivating self-care routines that support overall well-being. My absolute favorite thing is to watch my client’s lives rapidly improve when they start focusing on what makes them feel their best.

F+M NYC: We read a lot about perimenopause and menopause as being an unexplored, yet very important issue for women. Do you see a way to help women with this challenging transition through integrative nutrition?

LK: Absolutely. Perimenopause and menopause are significant transitions that affect every aspect of a woman’s health. A holistic approach can play a pivotal role in managing symptoms and supporting overall well-being during these phases. By focusing on nutrient-dense foods that support hormone balance, such as those rich in phytoestrogens, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants, we can help mitigate common symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings. The saying “we are what we eat” is especially true, as our cells are nourished (or malnourished) by what we consume.

It’s crucial to re-focus on what feels good to you now, even in these tricky and ever-changing phases of life. By doing so, you can learn what works best for you in this particular season. We often get stuck comparing what used to work and beat ourselves up when it no longer does – I’ve experienced this myself during each of my postpartum journeys.

However, if we return to the basics and focus on quality sleep, hydration, stress management, mindful movement, and eating in a way that nourishes our body, mind, and soul, we can significantly improve our experience during life’s transitions. This approach allows us to adapt to our changing needs and find balance, regardless of the phase we’re in.

F+M NYC: What are the top three tips you would offer to get started to living a healthy and happy life?

LK: This is a great question, and one I love to talk about.

>Listen to your body. This can feel hard at first, but start tuning into your body’s signals. Notice how different foods, activities, and lifestyle choices make you feel. Our bodies speak to us through aches and pains, feelings and sensations, cravings and gut feelings, and they are unique to each of us. This awareness is the first step towards making choices that truly support your well-being.

>Focus on what you can add IN, not what you need to restrict. Instead of restricting calories or punishing yourself with grueling workouts because you had that extra margarita or slice of pizza, focus on adding nourishing foods and enjoyable forms of movement INTO your life. What you focus on grows, so focus on how you want to feel and add in more things that will help you achieve that feeling.

>Prioritize self-care: Make time for activities that rejuvenate you, whether it’s a morning meditation, a midday walk, or an evening skincare routine. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential for showing up as your best self in all areas of life.

F+M NYC: What are your favorite ways to take care of yourself on and off the plate?

LK: On the plate, I love experimenting with colorful, nutrient-dense meals that make me feel energized and satisfied. I focus on eating a variety of whole foods but also enjoy treats without guilt. I think our health is all about doing more of what feels great and less of what doesn’t.

Off the plate, my self-care routine gives me life. I swear by my daily morning movement practice, which sets a positive and confident tone for the day. I also prioritize quality sleep and have a relaxing bedtime routine; dry brush, shower, skincare, and legs up before bed allow me to sleep SO well. Regular travel feeds my soul and broadens my perspective. I experiment with skincare and fashion, which are forms of self-expression and self-care. I’m also a big believer in continuous personal development, so I always have a self-improvement book on my nightstand or a podcast in my ears. These practices help me stay grounded, and inspired, and allow me to feel my best so I can support my clients to feel their best.
